Adding a Cold Cathode to my Linux Server
Well now that the cables are cleaned up, it was time to add a cold cathode
to my server.
I decided on blue since the front bezel of the case has blue bars down the
front of it.

The cathode comes with a Molex connector, a power switch and a power inverter
(the black box). Oh yea and of course the cold cathode.
The kit also comes with some Velcro and zip ties.

I don't need the switch that the kit comes with because I will be using my bay bus to control the cathode. I am cutting the wire at the switch which will void any warranty. I tested the cathode by plugging it in and using the switch it came with to make sure it worked before cutting the wire.

Next, I cut the Velcro down to size and placed it on the cathode.

I mounted the cathode on the side where it will not be easily seen. This spot should also provide good light for the case as well.

Next, I installed the power inverter. I Velcro'd it to the top of the case
(again out of sight). I had to be careful to
make sure that the panel tabs could still slide on without interference from
the inverter.

The last piece was to connect the wires to my bay bus, and then but everything back together.

I took this picture during the day. The cathode looks awesome and is very bright.
